Anthropology Instructor (part-time) - Cultural This is a position anticipated for future semesters. Overview Posting Number: 17-2011 Position Title: Anthropology Instructor (part-time) - Cultural Responsibilities Teach classes in Anthropology, adhering to the stated course objectives, content, and delivery. Support student learning and contribute to efforts to improve student success; assess learning outcomes and teaching effectiveness; adhere to ethical standards of the profession as outlined by relevant organizations and licensing bodies. Qualifications Master’s degree in Anthropology from a regionally accredited institution. Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission, and philosophy. Innovative, flexible, and positive teaching style with the ability to address diverse student needs. Language Skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to present information and respond to questions from groups. Mathematical Skills: ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; ability to work with probability and statistical inference concepts. Reasoning Ability: ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Technology Skills: ability to integrate computer applications into teaching. Other Skills and Abilities: apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons aligned with division and college objectives; establish and maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators; strong oral and written communication skills. Additional Qualifications Demonstrated successful higher education teaching experience. Experience using technology to enhance teaching (e.g., online/digital resources & course management software, Canvas). Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Ability to move about campus as needed and be mobile for participant involvement/activities. Ability to converse with individuals regularly, including reading, analyzing, and interpreting needs via phone, in person, or written documentation. Proficiency with computer programs (particularly internet, word processing, and student databases). Ability to present information in an instructional setting and respond to questions from groups. If applicable, ability to tolerate exposure to chemicals common to the industry and to handle and use chemicals safely with proper PPE. Work Schedule Specific Teaching Assignments include: Introduction to Cultural Anthropology on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 1:30 pm – 2:50 pm at the Southern Lakes Branch Campus. On Mondays/Wednesdays from 1:35 pm – 3:00 pm at Goodrich High School. Potential for additional sections. Part-time faculty are not required to hold regular office hours but should provide for student consultations as necessary and reasonable. Additional Information Must be available to teach onsite; opportunities do not exist to teach online courses only. Selected candidates may be asked to provide a professional portfolio; specific instructions will be shared prior to the interview. Visa sponsorship is not available. Selected candidates must submit to a drug test and criminal background check.
