The successful candidate will advance the educational mission of the College of Letters & Science, that values, prioritizes, and actualizes evidence-based and student-centered teaching and (undergraduate student) mentoring. They will contribute to an environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have a primary tenure-track appointment in either the Department of Political Science or the La Follette School of Public Affairs, with preference given to candidates interested in both political science and public policy. Tenure home will be determined at the time of hiring. Expectations include a commitment to the important functions of research, instruction, and service/outreach, as appropriate to faculty rank.Responsibilities include conducting research and teaching at all levels required with service at the professional and university level.As a member of the East Asian Cluster, participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments.Teaching will include both undergraduate and graduate courses, with a typical load of three courses each academic year. Courses will typically include two courses taught for one department and one course taught in the other department in one year, with the department receiving two courses alternating each year. Mentoring graduate students will be required as well. Successful applicants will teach graduate and undergraduate classes, mentor students, conduct scholarly research, and provide service to the department, college, university, and academic community nationally or internationally. The successful candidate, as a member of the College of L&S, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college's commitment to excellence among all aspects of their teaching, mentoring, research, and service.

Must have a Ph.D. in Political Science/Public Policy (or a related field) with specialization in the politics and policy of China by the start date of the position.
