Position Overview

REI is looking for a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager to spearhead growth across Tennessee. This role involves developing and nurturing relationships with electric cooperative clients, identifying new business opportunities, and managing the sales pipeline. The position requires a proactive and strategic professional who can represent REI at industry events, collaborate with internal teams, and execute client engagement strategies to ensure satisfaction and loyalty. The role involves extensive travel (up to 75%) within Tennessee and periodic trips to REI's headquarters in Athens, TX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with electric cooperative clients to drive satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through research, RFPs, RFQs, and prospecting activities.
  • Manage the entire sales process, from proposal development to contract negotiation, while maintaining accurate CRM records.
  • Represent REI at conferences, exhibits, and client meetings to increase brand visibility and credibility.
  • Monitor market trends, explore new service opportunities, and provide insights to support company growth.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align client needs with operational capabilities and resolve issues promptly.
  • Regularly report on sales activities, pipeline progress, and forecasts to aid strategic planning.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven approach to business development.
  • Strong presentation and proposal development skills to effectively communicate REIs value proposition.

Preferred (but not required):

  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally in the utility sector.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and a track record of successfully managing sales pipelines.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual Base Salary: $60,000 - $70,000

Commission and Incentives: This position offers a performance-based incentive structure, where employees can earn either commission or an annual performance bonus, whichever is greater. The annual performance bonus is up to 20% of the employees salary, based on company revenue and individual performance. Final bonus determination is made by upper management, considering goal achievement and overall contributions.

The commission structure allows employees to earn based on sales performance. If total commission earnings exceed the potential annual bonus amount, the employee will receive commission instead of the bonus.
