Description We have an immediate need at our Uncle Giuseppe's
Smithtown Store for a
PT Catering Driver for our busy Catering Department. Our Catering Driver's primary responsibility is to get the world's best gourmet food quickly and safely from the store to the customer's location. Catering Drivers are responsible for delivering all items and setting them up at the customer's requested approved location.
This position requires the individual to operate our company vehicle according to all local, state and federal regulations and maintain the vehicle in a safe manner while carrying large quantities of food.
(A CDL is NOT required for this position and a company SUV is provided for our food deliveries). Responsibilities - The Catering Driver must operate our vehicles according to all local, state, and federal regulations and maintain a vehicle in a manner capable of carrying large quantities of food.
- Assist with in store pick-ups
- Tasks included packing orders, packing paper good tickets, preparing condiments
- Setting orders up to meet client expectations
- Will require working off premised events such as BBQ's, Omelets events, Weddings etc. (Pay differential)
- Deliver outstanding customer service
- Loading and unloading of catering equipment from vehicles
Requirements - Must be at least 19 years of age or older
- 2+ years of driving experience in addition to a minimum of one (1) year Delivery Driver experience
- Must have reliable transportation and driver's insurance
- Must be able to work varied hours / days and start shift at early hours
- Must work well in a fast paced environment
- Requires the ability to multitask and switch tasks quickly
- Must work well with other team members
- The ability to read, count and accurately complete documentation
- Valid NYS Drivers License
- Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language

Working Conditions - Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
- May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
- Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
- There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
