Kennebec Behavioral Health/ Chief Administrative Officer /Augusta, Maine

We are working with our client, Kennebec Behavioral Health , a community based behavioral health provider servicing the communities in central Maine and named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the last 4 consecutive years in seeking a Chief Administrative Officer to join the team in the Waterville or Augusta Maine locations.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Administrative Officer is a critical member of the senior management team that plans, directs, implements, and oversees agency strategies, policies and activities in human resources; risk management; health and safety, facilities and contracting.

Requirements for the Chief Administrative Officer:

  • BS degree, Master’s preferred, in Healthcare Administration, HR or MBA
  • Minimum 7- 10 years related experience with 4+ years of Human Resources oversight, and either healthcare operations or administrative management at an executive level.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources systems and procedures, regulations and laws pertaining to employment
  • Thorough working knowledge of State and Federal payment regulations (Mainecare, Medicare), ERISA,. CARF accreditation standards and State of Maine Licensing
  • Understanding of facilities management
  • Excellent leadership and human relations abilities
  • Ability to interpret financial and human resource related data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and direct projects
  • Ability to plan and conduct human resource related individual and group training programs

Responsibilities of the Chief Administrative Officer:

  • Effectively lead department heads within the functional areas of oversight
  • Plan, develop, and implement effective human resources strategies and policies
  • Work collaboratively with CEO and senior management team to develop strategic goals and objectives ensuring that human resources plans, goals and policies are consistent with established organizational mission.
  • Ensuring HR compliance with evolving regulations, legal requirements and industry trends.
  • Participating in regular reviews of the Agency benefits offerings.
  • Establish effective recruitment and retention strategies
  • Partner with management team to develop a working environment that maintains high standards of performance, respects employees, and honors their accomplishments
  • Consulting with managers on issues that require coaching, counseling and disciplining of employees.
  • Representing the best interests of agency employees on issues of pay, benefits, and management.
  • Promotes the organization’s vision for change management utilizing organizational development techniques (CARF, Licensing) to facilitate, implement, and evaluate planned change within the agency.
  • Participate on the agency’s Risk Management Committee
  • Overseeing the organization’s safety and workers compensation program.
  • Functions as the Agency’s safety officer to include chairing the Agency Safety Committee
  • Facilitate all reporting to insurance providers, contract renewals and management, analyzing trends and recommending improvement initiatives to the Senior Management Team
  • Manage financial responsibilities through expenditures and analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions
  • Oversees the management of Agency Facilities
  • Hiring and maintaining appropriate facility team staffing
  • Overseeing process for the maintaining all KBH properties
  • Work with vendors/contractors to deliver appropriate and cost-effective services
  • Develop Annual operating budgets including Capital Improvements budget.

Kennebec Behavioral Health (KBH) is located in the heart of central Maine and has been providing comprehensive community mental health services in Maine since 1960. KBH offers clinic-based services including medication management and outpatient counseling for mental health, substance use disorder, and co-occurring disorders at five clinic locations in Augusta, Winthrop, Waterville, Farmington and Skowhegan.
