Database Administrator I Join to apply for the Database Administrator I role at Clayton Position Summary The Database Administrator will support our on‑prem and cloud‑based database environments as part of the Data Team. This position will be responsible for developing database standards and processes, and for the ongoing support and administration of database instances. Duties include database change management, optimizing server and query performance, monitoring critical database metrics, and troubleshooting production issues. Clayton currently utilizes three database platforms: IBM DB2 iSeries, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. The DBA I will support one of the data storage platforms that Clayton uses, with guidance and mentorship from higher‑level DBAs. About The Team Database Administrators work on the Data Team within the Enterprise Technology Operations (ETO) department, supporting application development teams and collaborating closely with Security and other ETO teams. The team focuses on continuous improvement, data performance, reliability, security, and excellent customer service. Primary Qualifications A basic understanding of database platform architecture. Knowledge of relational database concepts and normalization. Understanding of properties and functions of database objects for a given platform. Basic understanding of the “data as an asset” philosophy. Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas and instructions to peers, supervisors, and customers. Commitment to providing excellent internal and external customer service. Demonstrated self‑discipline, accountability, unquestionable ethics, and impeccable integrity; honors commitments and exceeds expectations. Desired Skills Proficiency in developing stored procedures, views, user‑defined functions, and triggers. Experience monitoring and maintaining database health and security. Ability to perform database change management and performance tuning. Proficiency using database monitoring and administration tools.
