First Care SLS Inc. is a licensed Adult Residential Care Facility that provides direct care services to high risk developmentally disabled adults. Our ownership team is currently accepting applications for our Direct Support Professional roles based in Fresno, CA. Under general supervision, the Direct Support Professional will provide direct care for individuals with mental or emotional conditions or disabilities, monitor individuals' physical and emotional well-being and report to supervising staff.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide “line of sight and influence” supervision.
• Assist with client self-medication and satisfactory completion of documentation in the medication record.
• Provide the care and safety of clients without physical or verbal abuse, exploitation, or prejudice.
• Assist with transportation.
• Assist with dressing, grooming, bathing, and other personal hygiene.
• Arrangement and assistance with medical and dental care.
• Maintain house rules.
• Provide training and development of life activities/skills (i.e. cleaning, bedmaking, laundry, washing dishes, yard work, basic chores, etc.)
• Monitor food intake or special diets.
• Respond to emergencies and crises by reporting to the Administrator.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor's degree and or 2 years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities
• 1 year of direct support experience in an in-home setting preferred.
• Knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality and interests, and learning and motivation.
• Understanding of various societal dynamics including differences in cultures, ethnicities, and values.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Clear and thorough communication skills with both colleagues and individuals of varying degrees of seniority and abilities
• Possess valid Adult First Aid and CPR card
• A valid CA driver's license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance.
• Ability to successfully pass a live scan and fingerprint background including TB and work physical.

Position offers a competitive salary of $16.50 - $17.50 per hour with a generous benefits package for full-time employees including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Sick Time, and 401(k) with Company match.
