Job Title: Director of Government Affairs
Location: Metro Washington, DC (Hybrid Role)
Reports To: SVP, Government Affairs and Public Affairs
Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000
Experience Required:
• Extensive experience in government affairs and lobbying preferably in trade
• Existing connections within Democratic legislative circles
• Strong public-facing presence with excellent networking skills

Director of Government Affairs – Democratic Liaison
Metro Washington, DC (Hybrid Role)

An influential national trade association is seeking a dynamic Government Affairs Representative – Democratic Liaison to join its high-profile government affairs team. This individual will be the face of the organization’s Democratic outreach efforts, representing key industry interests on Capitol Hill and serving as a strategic liaison with stakeholders, legislators, and association members.

About Director, Government Affairs Opportunity
This is an opportunity to work alongside industry leaders who are shaping national policy and advancing key legislative initiatives and working to enhance the association’s profile, presence, and relationships across key audiences, including government officials on Capitol Hill, the administration, federal agencies, and others.

• Salary: $115,000–$130,000

• Significant exposure to top legislative influencers and key industry stakeholders, as the face of the association for the democratic key stakeholders.

Director of Government Affairs - Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary Democratic representative for government affairs activities at public briefings, hearings, roundtables, conferences, and workshops.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Democratic congressional offices and relevant stakeholders.
• Represent the organization at national conventions, industry events, and key meetings.
• Collaborate closely with the Republican counterpart to advance bipartisan legislative priorities.
• Provide strategic insights to support the organization’s advocacy efforts and policy initiatives.
• Travel as needed (~20–30%) for legislative sessions, member events, and conventions.

Director of Government Affairs - Ideal Candidate Profile
• 7+ years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, or a related field.
• Established network within Democratic legislative circles.
• Prior experience working with or within trade associations strongly preferred.
• Strategic thinker with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable as a public-facing representative.
• Committed to long-term growth within an organization; not seeking short-term opportunities.
• Must be based within easy commute distance to the Washington, DC metro area.
