Non-Profit organization in Summerlin North is looking for a Director of Production (Theatrical/Performing Arts). This position is a permanent, full-time position with benefits.
The Director of Production serves as both the Production and Technical Director and is responsible for the management, planning, facilitation, technical implementation, and fulfillment of the Artistic vision for Company, School, and Community Education performances. Reporting to both Artistic and Administrative leadership, this position is also responsible for overseeing and managing all theater operations including load-in, rehearsals, performances, and strike, and for the safe operations of all theatre activity.
The Director of Production will provide leadership and management of the Production team consisting of employees such as the Production Coordinator, Stage Managers, Costume Manager, Resident Lighting Designer and all over-hire crew and workers, as well as working in collaboration with the Company/Artistic Operations Director to ensure smooth operations and integration between production and artistic activities.
The regular schedule for this position is generally Monday – Friday, 10AM – 6PM, with additional evening and weekend work as required. Attendance at all calls, rehearsals and performances at performance venues is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and manage annual production calendars, technical schedules, and operating budgets in collaboration with artistic and administrative teams.
· Oversee all aspects of production planning and execution, including load-in, rehearsals, performances, and strike.
· Supervise and lead the production team, including full-time staff, seasonal hires, contractors, and over-hire crew.
· Coordinate with departments including stage management, lighting, sound, costumes, and scenic design to ensure seamless integration and execution.
· Act as primary liaison with venue production teams, building and managing crew calls, and ensuring proper staffing and safety compliance.
· Schedule, and supervise technical crew, including but not limited to stagehands, riggers, lighting/sound technicians.
· Negotiate and manage contracts for scenic and costume rentals, designers, and technical services as well as transportation and logistics for rented productions.
· Create and maintain technical documentation such as ground plans, line-set schedules, run sheets, and call scripts.
· Lead technical rehearsals and serve as on-site supervisor for all production activities.
· Arrange rentals of specialized equipment (lighting, FX, projection, etc.) and coordinate transportation logistics, including truck rentals and warehouse transfers.
· Secure performance venues for mainstage and non-mainstage events, collaborating with other departments as needed.
· Schedule and lead production meetings; participate in staff meetings and required trainings.
· Support special events and performances outside of mainstage programming, including technical coordination and staffing.
· Ensure all productions meet high artistic standards within budget and schedule constraints.
· Submit and track paperwork for production-related expenses following internal policies and internal controls.
· Manage construction and maintenance for road boxes, storage crates, props, and scenic elements.
· Maintain inventory and safe storage of all production assets, equipment, and rehearsal space materials.
· Attend company-sponsored events and represent the production department as needed.
· Collaborate with external contractors, designers, and guest artists to meet production goals.
· Ensure rehearsal spaces are properly maintained and equipped with necessary sets, props, and wardrobe items.
· Oversee warehouse operations and ensure safe storage and inventory of production materials.
· Lead efforts in bidding and construction of new productions or production elements.
· Monitor and enforce health and safety guidelines, including OSHA compliance.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Artistic and Administrative leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
· 5–7 years in a professional Theatrical Production or Technical Director role.
· Strong leadership, communication, collaboration and organizational skills.
· Proficiency in budgeting, budget management, scheduling, and technical production tools.
· Knowledge of rigging, lighting, scenery, and OSHA live performance guidelines.
· Ability to read technical materials and if necessary, produce technical materials.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Able to follow and enforce company policies and safety standards.
· Proficiency in MS365 and other business software.
· Required: Ability to pass a general background check and must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance as required by law.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· On-site role requiring mobility across office, theater, and off-site locations.
· Ability to lift 30–50 lbs routinely.
· Must be able to build, assemble and move production-related items, sets, road boxes, technical equipment, etc.
· Comfortable with extended periods of sitting and computer use.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
Salary: $80K - $85K DOE
