Internship Summary

Supervised by the Northern Utah Healthcare Coalition Director and Bear River Health Department Emergency Services Manager, this internship offers hands-on experience in emergency management and public health within the Bear River Health District. Ideal for students pursuing careers in emergency management, public safety, or healthcare.

Schedule: 15-20 hours/week per semester with flexible hybrid, in-office, or remote options.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with staff, community partners, and agencies on preparedness efforts.
• Assist in developing emergency plans, creating training materials, and evaluating exercises.
• Participate in community outreach related to public health and safety.

Qualifications:

• Eligibility: Must be an undergrad/grad student in public health, emergency management, or related fields.
• Skills: Knowledge of public health models, proficiency in digital tools, strong communication skills. Must be skilled in computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, internet and email use. Must have good written, verbal, and public communication skills. Must be able to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work well in team situations, meet deadlines, and be able to work independently on a day-to-day basis. Preferred experience in project management, public safety, and amateur radio.
