Position Description Hunter Industries Ltd., a leading heavy highway and bridge construction company based in San Marcos, Texas, is currently seeking a skilled
Equipment Operator to join our team. The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of construction machinery to assist with site preparation, excavation, material handling, and roadwork. This role is physically demanding and requires a commitment to safety and teamwork in dynamic jobsite conditions.
Position Requirements Essential Functions and Responsibilities: - Operate various types of rubber-tired construction equipment such as backhoes, loaders, and other machinery.
- Start and operate equipment using pedals, levers, and controls in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform site tasks such as digging, trenching, and moving materials as directed.
- Communicate with ground crew and truck drivers to coordinate loading and unloading.
- Remain alert to site conditions to avoid hazards including underground utilities and surrounding equipment.
- Conduct basic maintenance and inspections of equipment, including lubrication and minor repairs.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the company safety manual.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: - Must be able to move throughout a construction jobsite including climbing ladders, walking inclines, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Adhere to all safety policies and report any unsafe activity to a supervisor or HR.
- Actively contribute to team efforts to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Lead by example and share knowledge with team members.
Qualifications: - Related construction experience preferred.
- Less than high school diploma accepted.
- Proven ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, equipment, and perform equipment inspections.
Physical Activity & Work Environment: - Heavy physical activity including strenuous, hands-on work throughout the day.
- Regular outdoor exposure to all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Exposure to loud noise, mechanical equipment, and elevated work areas.
