Description The Instructional Designer II plays a pivotal role in creating and supporting instructional and learning content delivered through various methods, covering a broad range of courses and training programs. This role frequently collaborates with faculty and staff to evaluate, implement, and integrate innovative instructional design strategies and learning technologies. In a hybrid work arrangement, the position maintains a strong focus on customer service and ensures the creation and delivery of exceptional learning experiences that drive educational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for creating innovative learning solutions, a comprehensive understanding of learning principles, and the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging content that aligns with the organization's goals and values.
Job Duties - Collaborates with faculty and staff to fully design, develop, and implement compelling and engaging learning content and experiences within the Samford community.
- Collaborates with faculty to design and develop academic courses of various modalities.
- Develops and leads workshops and one-on-one sessions to help apply instructional design methods in both academic and non-academic courses.
- Conducts course reviews of online courses to ensure the quality of courses.
- Provides occasional technical support to end users in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Applies proven instructional design theories, practices, and methods.
- Reports to the Director of Instructional Design.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of experience developing and supporting content for an online learning environment.
- Experience with learning and development software, such as Articulate Storyline and Rise.
- Experience with media software, such as Camtasia or Adobe Premiere/After Effects/Photoshop/Illustrator.
- Skilled in using learning management systems and academic technologies, particularly as it relates to teaching and learning in higher education.
- Skilled in training and end-user support.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Frequently view computer screen up to 8 hours per day.
- Must have access to a reliable, secure, and high-speed internet connection to perform job responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with faculty, staff, administration, and students within a customer service environment.
Preferred Qualifications •Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
•Familiarity with Quality Matters standards and review process.
