Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site (with possibility for some remote work) role for a Legal Assistant located in Toronto, ON. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for assisting lawyers with legal document preparation, managing communication, and providing administrative support in the areas of civil litigation and family law. Daily tasks may include drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, managing schedules, scheduling court dates, and handling client correspondence.

 

Qualifications

  • One to five years’ experience working as a Legal Assistant/Law Clerk
  • Knowledge of Law and experience as a Legal Assistant
  • Skills in Legal Document Preparation and Administrative Assistance
  • Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and familiarity with law office software a)
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and learn new tasks

 

Assets

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the Family Law Rules, the Rules of Civil Procedure, and Provincial and Regional Court Practice Directions and Notices to the Profession.
  • Assist in preparing and formatting litigation documents, including pleadings, affidavits, motion records, and factums for litigation, employment law, and family law cases.
  • Assist with applications and scheduling before administrative tribunals, including applications before the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB), Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Divorcemate, Automated Civil Litigation, LEAP, and Case Center.
