Lighting Mechanical Engineer

Milford CT

$75,000.00 per year BOE

Job description:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our design team and contribute to the development of innovative LED lighting solutions. This role will focus on ensuring the technical accuracy, manufacturability, and durability of new and existing product designs, while supporting both internal teams and client-driven customizations.

What You’ll Do

• Develop technical data packages to clearly communicate requirements of fit, form, function, and finish
• Partner with product designers to review designs and anticipate potential mechanical failure modes
• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, including machining, molding, extrusion, and casting methods
• Create and maintain detailed drawings, assembly instructions, and specifications for internal and external teams
• Review and apply finishing techniques such as anodizing, powder coating, sand blasting, and bead blasting
• Support the design and launch of architectural lighting products, balancing technical precision with aesthetic requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (required)
• 0–5 years of professional engineering experience
• 0–2+ years of product development experience (preferred)
• Proficiency in mechanical drawing standards, including geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
• Experience developing technical drawing packages (required)
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as Fusion360 or SolidWorks
• Experience with Revit is a plus
• Lighting product design experience is preferred
