About the Program: The Natural Resources Governance and Policy program at WRI promotes legal and policy measures, decision-support data, and analysis tools to combat illegality in natural resource exploitation and trade, focusing on forests and marine ecosystems. The Countering Nature Crime (CNC) project is a five-year, $25 million initiative funded by USAID. It aims to detect, deter, and prevent nature crimes such as illegal fishing, wildlife trafficking, illegal logging, and deforestation impacting export commodities, which threaten biodiversity, climate, human rights, and economic stability. Job Highlights: Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, you will support the CNC project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Plan, manage performance monitoring on DevResults, review and revise indicators annually, monitor data collection quarterly, and analyze key metrics. You will train partners on data collection, develop training materials, contribute to reporting, and support lessons learned and success stories. Collaboration with the Deputy Chief of Party and NCA staff on the CNC Learning Plan, Gender Analysis, and Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan is also required. Responsibilities include: Manage Project Performance Data (60%) Maintain CNC DevResults site and ensure timely, accurate reporting Review data from partners and ensure their reporting responsibilities are met Develop MEL guidance and training materials Review data collection methodologies and track indicators Analyze lessons from project reports Communicate MEL plan updates Support CNC Learning Agenda (20%): Document learning activities Review and adjust learning questions annually Develop and implement the Gender Analysis and Action Plan and Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan (20%): Collaborate on frameworks and research plans Train partners on GAAP and EMMP requirements Provide inputs to EMMP Monitor progress and compliance Contribute to annual reports on GAAP and EMMP Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public policy, international development, environmental studies, NGO management, or related; relevant work experience accepted in lieu of degree Minimum 3 years’ experience in research and analysis related to nature, biodiversity, or conservation, with preferred focus areas Proficiency in DevResults Knowledge of gender, equity, social inclusion, and their intersection with nature crime Experience with USAID MEL requirements and reporting Strong report synthesis, virtual training, and communication skills English proficiency; additional language preferred Existing work authorization is required; WRI cannot sponsor visas Salary range: $69,000 - $78,000 USD, dependent on experience.
