Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Member Engagement & Loan Origination
- Assist members with mortgage loan applications : Guide members through the entire process, from loan application to closing.
- Provide expert advice : Offer advice on different mortgage options (e.g., conventional, FHA, VA, USDA) and help members select the best option based on their needs.
- Analyze financial information : Review credit reports, income documentation, and other financial details to assess loan eligibility and recommend suitable loan programs.
- Build and maintain member relationships : Develop strong relationships with members by delivering excellent customer service and fostering trust.
2. Loan Processing & Closing
- Ensure timely processing : Work closely with the underwriting team to ensure timely and accurate processing of mortgage applications.
- Prepare loan documentation : Work with members to gather necessary documents, ensuring that all required paperwork is complete and accurate for underwriting approval.
- Coordinate with third parties : Work with appraisers, title companies, insurance agents, and other partners to facilitate the loan process.
3. Sales & Cross-Selling
- Meet sales targets : Consistently meet individual and team sales goals for mortgage loan origination.
- Cross-sell credit union products : Identify opportunities to cross-sell other credit union products and services (e.g., home equity loans, personal loans, savings accounts) to enhance members' financial well-being.
4. Compliance & Regulations
- Adhere to regulations : Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local mortgage lending regulations and ensure compliance with all industry laws and credit union policies.
- Maintain accurate records : Ensure that all loan documents and member communications are properly documented and stored in accordance with regulatory requirements.
5. Community Involvement
- Represent the credit union : Participate in community outreach programs and homebuyer education workshops to promote financial literacy and raise awareness of credit union mortgage offerings.
- Foster trust and integrity : Build a reputation as a trusted advisor in the community by offering honest, transparent, and helpful mortgage guidance.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage lending, preferably within a credit union or bank environment.
- Knowledge : Strong knowledge of mortgage products, lending regulations, and loan origination processes.
- Sales Experience : Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and the ability to build relationships with new and existing members.
- Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial products in a simple and understandable manner.
- Attention to Detail : Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail when processing loan applications and documents.
- Technology Skills : Proficiency in mortgage loan origination software and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Credit Union Systems : Familiarity with credit union products, policies, and services is a plus.
- Customer Service Focus : A strong passion for delivering exceptional customer service and helping members achieve their financial goals.
