POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Medicine Board Certified Physician to join our team at Brevard Health Alliance, a community-based health center committed to providing high-quality, accessible care to underserved populations. The Addiction Medicine Physician will provide comprehensive medical care to individuals affected by substance use disorders (SUD), offering a range of treatment modalities including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), counseling, and integrated care coordination. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care and a collaborative approach with other healthcare providers to support recovery and improve patient outcomes.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A medical degree (MD) or osteopathic medical degree (DO) from an accredited institution, along with a board certification within the respective medical specialty; this includes but is not limited to IM, FM, Psychiatry, Neurology American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM), subspecialty board certification in addiction psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), board certification in addiction medicine from the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), or a Certificate of Added Qualification in Addiction Medicine conferred by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Demonstrate by education, experience, and examination the requisite knowledge and skills to provide prevention, screening, intervention, and treatment for substance use and addiction. Recognize and treat the psychiatric and physical complications of addiction. Active, unrestricted state medical license to practice in Florida Experience in treating substance use disorders, including experience with MAT. Knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment and mental health integration. Experience working in a community health center or with underserved populations is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary setting. Commitment to providing patient-centered, compassionate care in a culturally diverse environment. Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adapt to evolving patient needs. OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS Experience with harm reduction approaches and motivational interviewing. Knowledge of local community resources for addiction recovery, mental health support, and social services. Bilingual not required but always preferred PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide direct medical care for individuals with substance use disorders, including conducting assessments, diagnosing, and creating individualized treatment plans. Administer medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including but not limited to buprenorphine and naltrexone, as appropriate. Offer clinical support for patients in recovery, monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness, and adjust medications as needed. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including behavioral health professionals, nurses, social workers, and case managers to deliver integrated care. Educate patients and their families on the nature of addiction, treatment options, recovery resources, and harm reduction strategies. Participate in regular case reviews, treatment planning, and staff meetings to ensure holistic patient care. Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal, regulatory, and FQHC standards. Promote a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach to care that addresses the unique needs of each patient. Stay current with advances in addiction medicine and continue professional development. Actively contribute to a positive, supportive, and collaborative team culture. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Delegates tasks and responsibilities as needed Oversight and collaboration with mid-level providers.
