The Senior Nuclear Hardness Engineer will support the Sentinel Program development with special emphasis on aspects of nuclear hardness and system resiliency, including the mitigation of compromising electromagnetic emanations and ensuring the system's emission security (EMSEC). Perform analysis of technical requirements as they pertain to nuclear environments, including effects of thermal, electromagnetic pulse, and radiation, amongst others, and assess the risk of unintentional radio or electrical signals, sounds, and vibrations that could be intercepted and used to gather sensitive information.
Additional responsibilities:Support Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities, contributing to systems engineering and logistical tasks, with a focus on ensuring the system's design and manufacture meet standards to prevent spying on information systems through leaking electromagnetic radiation, acoustic emissions, or other compromising signals.
Conduct research concerned with design, manufacture, and test of components, equipment, and systems, including the development of shielding and grounding techniques to protect against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure communications security (COMSEC).
Analyze and prepare documentation for highly complex engineering designs, analyze operational systems, and recommend design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunction or changes in system requirements, including those related to emission security (EMSEC) and the prevention of compromising emanations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
