Responsibilities
MaxLinear is seeking an experienced photonics/datacom transceiver engineer to join our team. In this role, you will join a word-class engineering team developing next generation fiber optic Ethernet transceiver DSP platforms for hyperscale data center applications.
- Technical leadership representing the systems function in the cross-functional development of next-generation DSP platforms
- Provide photonics component and module expertise into the IC design cycle
- Design and execute post silicon test plans at both electrical and optical platform levels to verify performance of next-generation DSP platforms
- Help design, calibrate, and test various transceiver reference designs and platforms
- Work with marketing to understand customer requirements and with internal engineering teams to translate them to product requirements and test plans
- Work with field and application engineering to understand customer issues during the qualification phase and lead internal debug and resolution efforts

Qualifications - Solid experience leading technical execution from concept to volume production in the data-center optics industry
- Subject matter expertise in optical components, optical system design and characterization, optical transceiver design, high speed networking standards such as Ethernet, Infiniband, and PCIe, and PAM-4 analog and digital signal processing
- Experience calibrating and characterizing high speed datacom transceivers
- Customer facing experience a plus
- Self-motivated, effective communication skills, and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related + 11 years of experience, or MS + 9 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 6 years of experience
Compensation And Benefits MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.
MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of: $146,200 to $227,010 Annually

The actual starting base salary will be determined by the match to certain role-related criteria such as educational degree(s) or equivalent, relevant work experience, skillset needed for the role, and geographic location; this is not an all-inclusive list as some roles may require unique skills or experience.
