The Position – Superintendent: Airfield Systems/NAVAIDS
The Superintendent role in our organization’s NAVAID’s division is a leadership role of vast importance to our airfield system projects, otherwise known as NAVAIDS. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in underground electrical installations, duct banks, manholes and steel structures. A proper candidate will also possess a working knowledge of surveying, placing concrete, site excavations, paving, airfield lighting and FAA Navigational Aids. This leadership role involves scheduling, monitoring, and management of daily project execution, ensuring progress and performance align with goals and objectives.
The Superintendent will uphold individual site safety and compliance standards. Collaboration with project managers, on-site associates, electricians and project coordinators as well as leadership officers will be standard. The ideal candidate will have solid Airfield System and/or NAVAID project experience, a passion for leadership and coordination of successful projects as well as the ability to troubleshoot and coordinate plans to implement and complete successful projects. This is a 100% travel position (within the United States), which is company paid. The typical job duration is 2-8 months. The Superintendent must have the ability to communicate project details and updates. Providing a 2 week look ahead schedule, conducting daily safety briefings, recording and reporting work hours is essential. The Superintendent will be responsible for ordering and managing material, organizing manpower and job schedules, typing reports and utilizing a laptop computer or tablet. Autodesk Construction Cloud (Build) experience is a plus.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the Superintendent Include:
· Collaborate with the division leadership officer, Project Manager and onsite staff to implement the Project schedule parameters.
· Manage pre-construction tasks, including take-off surveys, jobsite utilization plans, and staging plans
· Uphold and implement the established Safety Plan throughout the construction phase
· Provide necessary information to field personnel, subcontractors, management teams, purchasing, and vendors.
· Assist in updating the project schedule weekly alongside project leadership colleagues
· Direct and oversee construction crews and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project plans and schedules.
· Supervise personnel administration for field staff.
· Oversee field site mobilization, including temporary power setups and office trailer installations.
· Handle field site administration, such as work documentation, time and materials, work orders, subcontractor oversight, and productivity tracking.
· Maintain and regularly update as-built records for the project
· Assist with the development of the Project Closeout Schedule alongside project leadership partners
· Other/Additional responsibilities fluctuate as project parameters and dynamics change
Potential Field Duties
*The Superintendent often engages directly in fieldwork, assisting with various installations:
· Splice wires and apply terminal caps using hand tools, including making waterproof splices for underground installations
· Connect wires to plugs, switches, controls, fixtures, and panels
· Test installations for circuit continuity and ensure the safety and compatibility of all components using appropriate testing equipment.
· Conduct lockout/tag-out procedures in high-voltage environments
· Operate around live high-voltage circuits and switchgear
· Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment for efficiency and safety, ensuring compliance with National Electrical Code standards
· Measure, cut, bend, and install electrical conduit and boxes using various tools and equipment.
· Pull wires through conduits and assign tasks to junior electricians, apprentices, and helpers.
· Provide training and guidance on proper electrical methods and practices.
· Operate vehicles or heavy machinery (like backhoes and augers) in active airport environments near aircraft and
FAA control areas.

· Previous OSHA Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) certification is a plus
