Job Posting – Surveyor

POSITION SUMMARY

Installation of staking, layout, and topographical surveys to serve utility and sitework crews in the great Houston area.

OBJECTIVES

• Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction surveys.
• Set up and operate Topcon survey equipment for accurate measurements and layout.
• Troubleshooting hardware/software issues with Topcon devices.
• Troubleshooting hardware/software issues with Topcon devices on Heavy Equipment

· Staking out points, creating contour maps, and calculating elevations for earthwork and site utility work.

· Organize and schedule site visits for optimal travel times, while meeting project requirements.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams.
• Coordinate plan revision and CAD file updates with the field Topcon systems
• Localize GPS system from provided CAD files and control points
• Discover and communicate any discrepancies from the CAD files from onsite conditions.
• Perform staking installation independently and/or with the help of a survey laborer. 

COMPETENCIES

• Strong understanding of surveying standards, land laws, and site safety protocols.
• Proficiency in using Topcon total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, digital levels, and data collectors.
• Experience with surveying software like Topcon Magnet, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar GIS tools.
• Knowledge of coordinate systems, geodetic principles, and data processing.
• Attention to detail for accurate data collection.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• 5 years of experience with Topcon systems and survey project management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physical stamina for working outdoors in various weather conditions.
