Position Summary
Plan, manage, edit and write narratives for JHM to support our strategic priorities. Identify stories and produce high-quality written materials for JHM electronic, print, web, video, and media outlets. Stories include research news, translating complex initiatives or biomedical research into clear language, feature articles, and stories about institutional initiatives and faculty profiles. Develop and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and media to provide media relations services to enhance public awareness of Johns Hopkins Medicines mission and achievements. Assist in planning, developing collateral, and implementing media relations and internal communications for various events, including press conferences, symposia, town halls, and leadership communications.
Education
Minimum Qualifications: Master's or Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or closely related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years in journalism, media relations, medical reporting, or science writing. Proven experience in high-quality writing, editing, working on deadlines, and developing communication strategies. Experience in supervising and implementing external communications and editing high-quality publications.
Salary Range: $31.06/hour to $51.29/hour, commensurate with experience.
